Help or Everything you always wanted to know about Cinedoo but were afraid to ask

1) Are you pirates? Do you distribute pirated content?

No, and we are strongly against piracy since it hurts filmmakers and destroys independent filmmaking. We are a legitimate distribution platform established by people with film industry experience. We distribute only movies for which we have distribution rights. Needless to say that a significant part of the price Cinedoo users pay for a movie goes to filmmakers so they could recoup the money they spent on making the movie and could make more movies. We are a filmmakers company after all!

2) What movies appear in Top section?

The movies that were purchased more times than others and hence have better rating.

3) What format the movies are in?

All movies are in Mpeg-4 format. The only difference is that movies for iphone and ipod touch (Mpeg-4: 320x480 format) are encoded using h.264 codec while the movies for ipod, zune, other mp3/video players and mobile phones (Mpeg-4: 240x320 format) are not.

4) Are the movies wide screen?

Movies in Mpeg-4:240x320 format have standard screen resolution while movies in Mpeg-4: 320x480 format are wide screen. In rare cases when a movie was shot in 4:3 format it will has standard screen resolution even in Mpeg-4: 320x480 format.

5) What portable video players the movies are compatible with?

Movies in Mpeg-4: 240x320 format are compatible with any device that has a standard (4:3) screen with resolution 240x320 (or 480x640) and can play standard MPEG-4 (and not only MPEG-4 with h.264 codec). Movies in Mpeg-4: 320x480 format are compatible with any device that has a wide screen with resolution 320x480 and can play MPEG-4 encoded with h.264 codec. If you are not sure what format is right for you we recommend to check the technical specifications for your device provided by the device manufacturer.

6) Can I watch it on ipod?

Yes. Mpeg-4: 240x320 is the format for ipod.

7) Can I watch it on Zune?

Yes. Mpeg-4: 240x320 is the format for Zune.

8) Can I watch it on my iphone? What about iphone 3gs?

Yes. Mpeg-4: 320x480 is the format for iphone (including iphone 3gs).

9) Can I watch it on Creative Zen X-Fi?

Yes. Mpeg-4: 320x480 is the format for Creative Zen X-Fi.

10) Can I watch it on my Nokia mobile phone?

Most Nokia mobile phones as well as most other mobile phones will play Mpeg-4:240x320 format. Some of them will also play Mpeg-4: 320x480.

11) How can I check whether it will be played on my mobile device?

You can download a trailer for the film free of charge and then try playing it on your device. Since our trailers are in various formats, to check if your device plays Mpeg-4: 240x320 format download the trailer for Blood Feast. To check if your device plays Mpeg-4: 320x480 format download the trailer for Hoboken Hollow.

To download the trailer click on the "View trailer" link and select “Save” in the pop-up window.

12) How do I upload movies into my portable player or phone?

This doesn’t differ from uploading any video clip into your player/phone. Just follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer of your device.

13) Can I copy movies to other computer/device?

Yes, you can, but only if it's intended for your personal use. Distributing content without acquiring distribution rights is illegal and is prosecuted by law.

14) Can I watch movies on my TV or computer monitor?

Cinedoo movies are intended for viewing on mini-screens only (portable players, mobile phones, i-pods, iphones etc). Thus, the movie settings and screen resolution are optimized in such a way that if the movie is viewed on a bigger screen the picture is blurred. However, as long as you see it on a mini-screen device you are fine.

15) Where can I find movies I have purchased?

You can find them in Purchased Movies section of your account.

16) How many times can I download a movie after the purchase?

You can download a movie three times within 24 hours after the purchase. A download link is accessible instantly after the purchase. You can also find the download link in Purchased Movies section of your account.

17) What happens if my internet connection is down during the download process?

You will be credited one download anyway. We recommend you to make sure that internet connection is good before starting downloading the movie.

18) Can I download purchased movies from different computers?

Since all the movies are intended for personal use you can download purchased movies only from the computer that has the same IP address as the computer that you used when purchasing the movie. Generally speaking this would mean that if you purchased a movie using, for example, your home computer you will be able to download a movie to this computer only.

19) I would like to purchase a movie but it is not available for the country I am in right now.

In some rare cases we do not have rights to distribute a movie in a particular country. We are sorry if it is the case with a movie you like. Be assured that we are working on making all our movies available worldwide.

20) I would like to purchase a movie but there is no Add to cart button!

It means you are located in a country where this particular movie is not available for purchase.

21) I’m a filmmaker. How I can get my film to be distributed at Cinedoo.com?
